It was so good to be home and even better because I was able to dine at Luella's. I've been trying to get there for a while and the last time I tried the wait was to long and I didn't want to-go. I arrived just in time to get seated before a crowd came.
Ordered Luella's Salmon Cakes which are served on a bed of Rice Grits with Masque Choux (corn) and the monthly special, Peach Cobbler French Toast! The salmon cakes were SEASONED! No lack there in flavor for sure! The grits and corn are an excellent compliment-All three in one bite...heaven!! My only issue was that my corn wasn't warm enough; I didn't care much because the salmon was fresh and hot and so were the grits.
The Peach Cobbler French Toast wasn't overpowering on the sweet side, it was just right, giving you the option to add syrup or not. The syrup really wasn't needed but I did ask for a side. I opted for no cream but I wish I asked for extra Peach Caramel and peaches because that was my favorite part. The peaches were not over cooked and still had a slight crunch to them.
I'm definitely adding this place to the list of Chicago Favs and must try. Chef Darnell knows how to COOK!! The pairings and flavors speak for themselves. Also the service was on point. You will not be disappointed.
